The battery is Fenix propietary and works when inserted in either direction.  Useful for when you need a quick battery swap and don't have the light or the time to pay attention to orientation.  There's no such thing as backwards with these cells.  The instant strobe feature is activated by holding the smaller button for approximately 750ms. and will deactive immediately upon releasing the button.

Integrated lockout functions prevents the light from accidentally being activated when stored.  

• To enable the lockout function, turn on the light, then depress and hold the power button for at least 4 seconds.  Not 2 seconds as mentioned in the graphics.  The light will blink twice as it goes in to lockout mode.  
• To disable the lockout mode, double click the power button 2 times in rapid succession.  If the light doesn't come out of lockout, you're not clicking fast enough.

Tailcap is flat allowing the light to be used in candle mode and accepts 42mm diameter diffusers.
